Job Title: Economics Teacher
Location: Boarding School, St Albans, Hertfordshire
Reporting To: Head of Economics / Director of Studies
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality teaching of Economics to pupils, inspiring intellectual curiosity and academic excellence. The role includes contributing to the wider life of a busy boarding school community and supporting students both academically and pastorally.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging Economics lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5 (GCSE and A-Level or equivalent).
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment materials in line with curriculum requirements.
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Support students in achieving strong academic outcomes, including preparation for examinations.
Co-Curricular Contribution
- Lead or assist with extracurricular activities, clubs, or societies (e.g., Economics Society, debating, enterprise clubs).
- Support school events, trips, and enrichment activities.
Person Specification
Essential
- Degree in Economics or a related subject.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Economics.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to pastoral care and boarding school life.
Desirable
- Experience teaching A-Level Economics.
- Experience working in a boarding school environment.
- Ability to contribute to extracurricular programmes.
